A CPESC or CPSWQ designation establishes and expands your credibility in these specialties. It sets you apart as a certified professional who can be utilized to design and evaluate erosion and sediment control and/or storm water control plans, to influence public policy and land-use planning decisions, and to educate others in sound approaches for preventing off-site impacts from development activities.
The CPESC or the CPSWQ designation identifies specialists who have met established standards of expertise, experience and knowledge. Through a process of peer review and written exams available during the IECA Annual Conference and Expo, pre-approved applicants can obtain certification. These certification programs sponsored by the Soil and Water Conservation Society (SWCS) and the International Erosion Control Association (IECA), provides the public with evidence of professional qualifications.
The certification process involves three steps:
1. You must complete an application that documents your educational and work experience. CPESC and CPSWQ eligibility is evaluated based on your application information.
2. You must submit a fee of $185 USD (IECA and SWCS members) or $200 USD (non-members) with your application. If you are already a CPESC, your fee is $75 USD.
3. You must pass a two-part exam, which is offered at the IECA Conference.
When it’s time to renew our CPESC or CPSWQ certification, it pays to be a member of IECA or SWCS. CPESC and CPSWQ renewal fees for members is $85 (US) while nonmembers pay $100(US).
Take advantage of the conference’s specialized training courses to prepare yourself for the exam and obtain certification.
The CPESC and CPSWQ exams will be held on Friday February 13, 2009. The CPESC and CPSWQ exams are available only to pre-approved applicants. To obtain an application for either certification call CPESC, Inc. at 828-655-1600 or email john@cpesc.org or online at www.cpesc.org.
