IECA Education
"IECA Trained" Program
The "IECA Trained" program is a new designation that shows an individual has received topic-focused training in a specific area of study from an IECA-endorsed training event.
The "IECA Trained" designation confirms that an individual has received up-to-date information about current regulatory issues, best management practices, new technology, effective methods, applications, and other important developments in a specific field of the erosion and sediment control profession from IECA qualified instructors.
"IECA Trained" is not a certification or licensing program. It is a training curriculum designed to enhance your knowledge by providing education and contact hours that can also be applied to certification programs or other continuing educational programs.
The Professional Development Committee (PDC) is dedicated to enhancing the educational offerings for the current courses of study and expanding the selection. This program was launched February 20, 2006 at EC06. Per PDC's decision, courses and sessions taken prior to February 20, 2006, are not eligible for credit towards the "IECA Trained" program.
How the program works
The Professional Development Committee (PDC) of IECA has approved four profession-specific courses of study.

IECA will provide a specific curriculum geared toward completing the educational requirements for each course of study. Upon completion of the educational requirements, individuals will become eligible to receive the "IECA Trained" designation.
After the initial course of study has been completed for a specified designation, individuals can obtain additional designations or maintain current designations on an annual basis by receiving sixteen (16) IECA professional development hours (PDHs) from IECA per calendar year.
