This session will introduce a variety of slope failure types and provide instruction for the use of visual and investigative procedures for their identification. Upon learning the identification of the types of slope failure, and the source of the instability, remediation techniques will be introduced. Structural and Bio-Technical methods and procedures will be discussed as potential remediation procedures. Design and Installation of presented remediation techniques will be reviewed in a case study format, to demonstrate actual implementation of presented remediation techniques.

Learning Objectives:

  1. Learn to identify visual clues to soil stability/instability
  2. Learn to Identify Different Types of Soil Instability
  3. Learn the Use of Basic Tools for Identifying Soil Instability
  4. Learn Procedures to Remediate Soil Instability
