IECA Chapter Leader Resource Center
IECA's and Chapter's Roles in Events
There has been confusion in the past about events, and IECA’s role and Chapter’s role with regards to events. The below is IECA’s position on this matter.
At the current time, here is how IECA defines its role with Chapter events:
- IECA provides free promotion through its web site calendar section.
- Chapters can publicize their events by submitting news articles to IECA, and IECA will publish in the appropriate mediums free of charge at its own discretion.
- IECA provides free mailing lists upon request.
- IECA can distribute email announcements for Chapters that sign up for the Email Distribution Service for $25 per email.
- IECA is refining its leadership training course titled “How to Put on an Event”, that will be distributed to all Chapters as soon as it is ready.
- IECA will mail Chapters IECA promo materials to distribute at their events free of charge.
- IECA will send a representative who can assist with on-site registration, speaking, moderating etc. at the Chapter event (budget permitting). IECA will strive to send a representative to 4-5 Chapter events a year, budget permitting.
- IECA staff is on-call to provide advice re: contract negotiation, marketing, exhibits, etc.
At the current time, here is how IECA defines the Chapters’ role in IECA’s events:
- If IECA has a course in a Chapter’s region, the Chapter is notified and encouraged to participate in a partnership as defined with the Public Course program document prepared by the Professional Development Dept.
- IECA’s Events Dept. has a Host Chapter Program that encourages Chapter participation in IECA’s annual conference.
- IECA will provide Chapters with a complimentary booth space at its annual conference.
- IECA will provide Chapters with a complimentary meeting room at its annual conference.
- IECA will hold an event at its annual conference that will showcase Chapters, and all Chapters are encouraged to participate.
