IECA Call for Presentations

Full and Half-Day Course Abstract Submission Guidelines One Hour Presentation Abstract Submission Guidelines Research Project Presentation Abstract Submission Guidelines Hot Topics Final Presentation Guidelines Important Dates & Information Submit Abstract

IECA is looking for advanced courses that tell our participants WHY things in the industry need to be done, rather than focusing so much on HOW things are done.

Presentation Types

IECA has two types of instructor led courses, FULL-DAY and HALF-DAY; and five types of presenter led presentations (one hour max):

One Hour Presentations

One hour presentations are short but informative sessions that allow participants to discuss and learn new information about a topic, within the erosion and sediment control industry.

One Hour Presentation/Research Project Types:

IECA offers five presentation types to its conference attendees:

  • Technical Papers
Technical papers discuss projects, events and/or research that result in a learning experience or conclusion.
  • Case Studies
Case studies are short presentations on a project or program that uses innovative techniques saves money and/or transforms a site.
  • Poster Presentations
Poster presentations document an erosion and sediment control project from beginning to end. Each accepted poster presentation should be displayed on a 1.2 m x 2.4 m (4' x 8') poster board.
Presentations should also include written documentation including the nature of the presentation, a summary of all visual aids the presentation will contain and a description about the relevance of the presentation to the erosion and sediment control industry.
  • Training Workshops
Training Workshops are mini-courses that describe and demonstrate real world applications of erosion and sediment control technology. Instructors should focus on practical, "how-to" techniques that include planning, design, construction and/or maintenance.
  • Forums/Round Table Discussions
Forums/Round Table Discussions bring erosion and sediment control professionals together for discussion and debate.

Full and Half-Day Courses

IECA offers both full day and half day courses at its Annual Conference. Full day courses are generally during an eight hour segment of time while half day courses are four hours. Some full day courses may extend into two days, depending on the amount of content.

Full-Day Course

Full day courses provide detailed content on issues related to our industry. Instructors should be considered experts in their field of work and effectively address related topics in a classroom setting. A printed manual, PowerPoint presentations, and other presentation methods are strongly suggested.

Half-Day Course

Half day courses provide course participants with new tools for their professional growth. Half day courses generally follow a case study, workshop or panel format. They may also be non industry related, conducted by professionals in a related field of study.
