Specifying and Executing the Inspection and Maintenance of Hydraulically-applied Biotic Soil Media and Erosion Control Products

Selecting and specifying suitable products for your site design is unequivocally important for attaining project goals and site closure. Often overlooked is the assurance that adequate inspection and maintenance practices are in place to ensure materials and application rates are applied accordingly. In this presentation, we will discuss the site assessments required to determine the suitability of different hydraulically applied materials, effectively specifying appropriate soil preparation, materials and implementation sequencing, application of the specified materials, and follow-up inspection and maintenance requirements.

Welch is the technical and business development manager at Profile Products. He supports sales, marketing, customer service, manufacturing, research and development, customers and distribution with any technical assistance they need. From drafting project submittal letters to presenting Lunch & Learns, Matt’s expertise touches all of Profile’s segments. Most recently, Welch was elected the 2020-2022 board president for the IECA Great Lakes Chapter. Welch holds a bachelor’s degree in Conservation and Environmental Science, with an emphasis on land resources and soil science, from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee.

Rachel Higgins, CPESC, CESSWI, is the Technical Services Manager for Profile Products LLC of Buffalo Grove, IL since 2017. She manages Profile's Soil Solution Software (PS3) designed to offer site and product recommendations through soil testing and project design tools. Rachel holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Agricultural and Biological Engineering from the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign with a concentration in Soil and Water Sciences. Prior to Profile, Rachel worked for the Illinois State Water Survey monitoring water quality and pollutants in Illinois Watersheds.
