Community collaboration is succeeding to restore a watershed impaired by nutrients, instead of the traditional TMDL. Approximately 30 organizations representing diverse community interests are focused on one goal--restoring the watershed--and the benefits that accrue to the community.

Tom Gallo is facilitating stakeholder led watershed restoration projects that are setting the standard for USEPA’s new vision of implementing the Clean Water Act using new tools to attain water quality restoration and protection. Tom has developed models that accurately simulate water quality and quantity and provided users with simple reliable tools to evaluate scenarios of pollution and restoration. Mr. Gallo began his career in research on how of nutrients cause nuisance algal blooms. He is a graduate of North Carolina State.

Her expertise includes strategic planning, scenario planning, team-building, change management, business case analysis, and stakeholder facilitation. Ms. Ralston has organized and facilitated a number of water sector workshops around the country focusing on water industry challenges and sharing solution. As a management consultant, Ms. Ralston has worked within the water sector for 25 years, assisting utilities and municipalities with problem-solving, either directly or helping to resource the right expertise from her professional network. She received her BA from the University of Colorado and her MBA from George Washington University.
